How to Prepare a Guest Bedroom for the Holidays…

Design Tips & Trends

Now is the time to start thinking through what you need to prepare to host guests for the holidays!

For guest bedrooms, I like to keep things as simple and minimalist as possible. Think hotel life! Start now by decluttering the space. Take out any items that don’t belong. Often guest rooms become the clutter catcher because they are used so rarely, especially this year.

Next, take inventory of what sheets, bedding, and pillow inserts you have available. I’ve linked my favorite simple and affordable sheets. I often recommend clients go with white bedding for guest spaces, just to maintain that hotel vibe. The hotel vibe isn’t for looks, it’s for margin and space for your guest to be able to relax in someone else’s space.

After you’ve grabbed some fresh white linens, you might consider adding a few convenience items to make your guest feel as welcome as possible. I love to have a nice lamp lit, a phone charging cord, a diffuser running with oils, and hook in the room for bags. Adding a note of easy access to the wifi code can also be super helpful!

Hopefully this gives you a good idea of where to start in preparing your guest space!

Just a quick overview and recap:

bedside lamp

phone charger

diffuser with oils

coat hook for bags, jackets, sweaters

My job isn't just to design a space you love. I want your living space to be a source of peace, comfort, security, and joy...not just somewhere you lay your head each night.

Most Austin interior decorators only focus on how your space looks—but not me. I care about both how your space functions AND how it makes you feel.
